The Oviedo Lions will square off against the Wekiva Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oviedo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 610 points over their last nine games.
Last Saturday, Oviedo beat Master's Academy 63-53.
Cameron Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Alex Harper, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Wekiva's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Jones by a score of 64-61. While losing is never fun, Wekiva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Jones is ranked 124th).
Oviedo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Wekiva, they bumped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Oviedo, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 78-63 loss to Wekiva in their previous matchup back in February of 2017. Can Oviedo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
