The Young Americans Christian Eagles lost against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Young Americans Christian received a tough blow as they fell 50-36 to Lanier Christian Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Young Americans Christian in their matchups with Lanier Christian Academy: they've now lost eight in a row.
Young Americans Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence Shorter, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shorter has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kassidy Scott, who scored nine points.
Lanier Christian Academy was led to victory by Jia Thapar and Emma Flowers. Thapar scored 19 points along with two blocks, while Flowers dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 steals. Flowers hasn't dropped below two steals for 20 straight games. Another player making a difference was Meav Fouts, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Young Americans Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
Young Americans Christian will play host again and welcome Skipstone Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skipstone Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last nine games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against The King's Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The King's Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.8 points per game.
