This season hasn't been kind to the South Cougars, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 56-39 to Hutchinson. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South in their matchups with Hutchinson: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, South still got an impressive performance from Jace Humphrey, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Humphrey scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Devoe, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
South's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Hutchinson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
South will head out on the road to face off against Derby at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hutchinson will be home for the holidays to greet Goddard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Goddard is ranked 64th, while Hutchinson is ranked 68th).
