On Thursday, the KIPP College Prep Panthers faced the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. KIPP College Prep fell to Friendship Collegiate Academy 57-51. KIPP College Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Friendship Collegiate Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Wednesday.
When it comes to explaining why KIPP College Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Durant. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Durant has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahmir Lindsey, who scored 12 points.
KIPP College Prep dropped their record down to 8-10 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
KIPP College Prep will head out on the road to take on Parkside at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Banneker at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Banneker knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Friendship Collegiate Academy likes a good challenge.
