Basketball Recap: Spencer Campbell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Elk Valley Christian over New Life Christian Academy

If Elk Valley Christian was feeling good fresh off their 96-64 takedown of Hannan on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elk Valley Christian Eagles took a 63-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Life Christian Academy Lions on Saturday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Elk Valley Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards. Campbell has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Hines, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points along with seven blocks and five assists.

New Life Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Hamilton, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 boards, and 12 assists. Another player making a difference was Cameron McEarchern, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Elk Valley Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for New Life Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.

Elk Valley Christian has already played their next match, a 70-62 victory against Cross Lanes Christian on the 27th. As for New Life Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-49 defeat against Victory Baptist Academy on the 28th.
