White Oak and Southwest Onslow are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. White Oak will be strutting in after a win while Southwest Onslow will be coming in after a defeat.
White Oak had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Lejeune on Tuesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Devil Pups. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Devil Pups recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Alyssa Whitcomb made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Ashley Jaeger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gracie Tompkins, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
White Oak always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lejeune only posted an OBP of .438.
Meanwhile, Southwest Onslow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 20-4 to Swansboro.
Grace Randolph made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
White Oak's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Southwest Onslow, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Everything went White Oak's way against Southwest Onslow when the teams last played back in February, as White Oak made off with a 16-6 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stallions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
