On Friday Bismarck take on Poyen at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close match.
Bismarck didn't finish too far behind, but the team still lost 29-35 to Baptist Prep last week. Bismarck got a solid performance out of junior James Kegley, who passed for 219 yards and 3 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. One of the most thrilling moments of the contest was Kegley's 52-yard TD pass in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Poyen took care of business in their home opener. They took their game against Drew Central two weeks ago by a conclusive 55-22 score. Poyen was expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Poyen's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Bismarck's loss dropped them down to 1-1. We'll see if Poyen's success rolls on or if Bismarck are able to steal their positive momentum.
