Caldwell is 2-8 against Emmett since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Huskies at 3:00 p.m. Emmett took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Caldwell, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Caldwell turned things around against McCall-Donnelly on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vandals a 21-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Cougars' most dominant victory of the season.

Peyton Walters made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Caldwell: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Caldwell got a massive performance out of Connor Fullerton, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave Fullerton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Ihli, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Caldwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Emmett came up short against Vallivue on Friday, falling 11-3. The Huskies have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Chris Fowler and Kash Walton did some serious damage despite the final result: Fowler got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Walton went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Emmett's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Caldwell, their record is now 3-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caldwell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Emmett struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Caldwell might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Emmett in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
