Larned has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Hoisington Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Larned will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Hoisington is ranked 116th).
Last Friday, Larned took a serious blow against Hesston, falling 61-13. Larned has not had much luck with Hesston recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Hoisington beat Lyons 58-45 on Friday.
Tony Moore was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Mason Martin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Larned dropped their record down to 2-13-2 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Hoisington, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Larned might still be hurting after the 60-37 defeat they got from Hoisington in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Larned, Leyton Haxton (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
