5A District 6 recap November 5, 2013
Pasco scaled the state rankings by moving to 240 from 273 this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 6. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of besting Zephyrhills 24-16.
Hernando took down Central 35-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Malik Johns provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Pasco beat the Bulldogs.
Grant Starling and Johns gave Tom Mchugh's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Starling threw for 53 yards and 1 touchdown, while Johns ran for 163 yards. Teammate Jaquan Clower added to the ground attack by rushing for 43 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Marcus Allen of Weeki Wachee is the league leader in passing yards this season with 577. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Devon Brockington. The Zephyrhills star has 21 catches for 405 yards.
Johns of the the Pirates is just 20 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Johns has rushed for 980 yards on 113 carries so far this year.
Pasco made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,406 from 5,045. The improvement was the result of a 24-16 victory over Zephyrhills last week.
