Peru extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 8-0 in the process. They put the hurt on the Beekmantown Eagles with a sharp 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jake Frechette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Kalib Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Gabe Moore was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Peru kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beekmantown only managed six hits.
As for Beekmantown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.
On Beekmantown's side, Logan Hart was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Peru will square off against Ticonderoga at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Beekmantown, they will take on Northern Adirondack at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
