The Peninsula Seahawks struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Timberline Blazers had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Peninsula was outmatched by the Blazers on the road and fell 69-42. Peninsula was down 52-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Peninsula lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Grace Richardson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Walker, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Shayla Cordis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Timberline, scoring 28 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Cordis is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brandi Stanford was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Timberline, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peninsula will face off against the Tides at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gig Harbor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Tuesday. As for Timberline, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Thurston is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
