The Union Academy Cardinals can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Albemarle by a score of 73-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Union Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miles Mcginnis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Mcginnis scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Rangolan, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Union Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Albemarle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union Academy will take on Gray Stone Day at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gray Stone Day is coming into the matchup with eight straight losses on the road, meaning Union Academy will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Albemarle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
