Scotland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Union Pines Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union Pines took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Scotland, who comes in off a win.
Last Wednesday, Scotland didn't have too much trouble with the Rams at home as they won 56-38.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scotland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shyland Harrell, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Graham, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union Pines' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lee County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaylen Kyle, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Trent Hilburn was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Scotland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12. As for Union Pines, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-9.
Scotland didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Vikings when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Kyle, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Scotland still be able to contain Kyle? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
