The Zanesville Blue Devils waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 49-41 victory over Cambridge. That's another feather in the cap for Zanesville, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Zanesville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Doyle out in front who scored 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Doyle continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Rashaud Hampton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Zanesville's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-9. As for Cambridge, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zanesville will take on the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Newark presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Blue Devils in Ohio (the Wildcats are ranked 29th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 425th). As for Cambridge, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m.
