The Owego Free Academy River Hawks will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Corning-Painted Post Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Owego Free Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 back in January.
Owego Free Academy can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game. Everything went their way against Homer as Owego Free Academy made off with a 54-31 victory. Given Owego Free Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Homer is ranked 453rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Owego Free Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cassie Doane out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Doane hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Brown, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Corning-Painted Post is still looking for their first win of the season after nine games. They took a hard 54-39 fall against Elmira on Thursday.
Owego Free Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Corning-Painted Post, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
