Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only George County walked away with it. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Hancock Hawks on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Rebels sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Carson Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Maddox Dunn was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayler Havard, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: George County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hancock only managed five.
George County's win bumped their record up to 23-9. As for Hancock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 24-9.
As of now, neither George County nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
