Section 5 Finger Lakes - East recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Section 5 Finger Lakes - East this week, Geneva beat Penn Yan Academy 39-13. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Panthers.
East Rochester-Gananda scaled the state rankings by moving to 119 from 152 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bombers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Newark 22-18.
Stephen Morrell threw for 210 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Morrell put up the best numbers through the air as Palmyra-Macedon bested Midlakes. Morrell's favorite target this week was Max Lloyd, who caught 4 passes for 68 yards.
Wayne's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nathan Currier has thrown for 582 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Mike Hollenbeck has 8 catches for 251 yards.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Wayne takes on Geneva. The Eagles' offense has racked up 175 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Mike Pane's team has allowed only 39 on the year.
The Panthers are currently in first, while Wayne is in third.
The Mustangs fell to Geneva 39-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
