Given Richland Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Hannah-Pamplico is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richland Northeast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Asuzu, who scored ten points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Asuzu has scored all season. Od Grier was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Hannah-Pamplico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tylin Jenkins. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Hannah-Pamplico struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Richland Northeast racked up 13 assists.
Richland Northeast's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Hannah-Pamplico, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richland Northeast will take on Ridge View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hannah-Pamplico, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Green Sea Floyds at 8:00 p.m.
