After a string of four wins, the Lely Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of First Baptist Academy by a score of 54-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lely in their matchups with First Baptist Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Lely's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richard Obas, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Lovence Valcin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Lely's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-13. As for First Baptist Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Lely will square off against Bonita Springs at TBD on Tuesday. Lely is coming into the contest with four straight losses on the road, meaning Bonita Springs will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for First Baptist Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mariner at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Mariner has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 451 points over their last six contests.
