If Dr. Maya Angelou Community was feeling good fresh off their 51-9 takedown of Maywood CES back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. 2025 welcomed the Dr. Maya Angelou Community Phoenix with an 87-64 loss courtesy of the Manual Arts Toilers on Monday. The Phoenix's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Leading Manual Arts to victory were Devin Moody and Bry'Cen Carter. Moody posted 37 points, while Carter earned 30 points. Moody has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 36 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Osorto, who had six points.

Dr. Maya Angelou Community's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3. As for Manual Arts, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dr. Maya Angelou Community will head out to square off against Santee at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Maya Angelou Community is facing Santee at the right time seeing as Santee is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Manual Arts, they are taking a road trip to face off against Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
