The Freeburg Midgets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-44 to Marquette Catholic. While losing is never fun, Freeburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Marquette Catholic is ranked 98th).
Several Midgets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Stuart, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Brentlinger, who scored 14 points.
Freeburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Marquette Catholic, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Non Varsity Tournament Opponent the next time they take the court. Freeburg will head out to face Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Marquette Catholic will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
