Riverton has gone a perfect 4-0 against Westlake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Silverwolves will be playing at home against the Thunder at 3:30 p.m. Riverton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Riverton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 19th at the time (Riverton was ranked second). The Silverwolves put the hurt on the Sentinels with a sharp 9-2 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Silverwolves, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Westlake earned a 9-6 victory over Cedar Valley last Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Aviators: they've now won three in a row.
Brilynn Attebery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devi Tu'ivai, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Erica Morgan was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Westlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cedar Valley only posted a batting average of .296.
Westlake's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 13-1.
Riverton's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Silverwolves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Westlake, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Riverton continue to outrun the ball?
Riverton got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 against Westlake by a conclusive 14-2 score. Will the Silverwolves repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
