Basic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Baltierrez out in front who scored 16 points. Saiah Minnis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elijah Flowers. Despite the final result, he scored 33 points. The contest was Flowers' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Van Graves, who scored nine points.
Basic's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-9. As for Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Basic will look to defend their home court on Friday against Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. Canyon Springs has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 308 points over their last five matches. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Arbor View at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arbor View has six straight wins, Valley has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
