It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Crestwood Red Devils ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Garfield 47-44. For Crestwood, this counts as revenge for the 53-31 loss Garfield walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.
Abby Guyette was on fire: she dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 14 rebounds, and 20 steals. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Brady, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals.
Despite the defeat, Garfield saw an underclassman step up: Mandy Cardinal scored 20 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Crestwood's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Garfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crestwood will challenge Rootstown at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Hubbard at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th.
