Even though the Jasper Eagles have not done well against the Golden City Eagles recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Jasper really took it to Golden City for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-35 victory on the road. For Jasper, this counts as revenge for the 41-32 defeat Golden City walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamison Menadue, who scored 13 points along with 3 steals. Menadue scored a full 37.1% of Golden City's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Pettengill, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Jasper's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Golden City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Jasper will be playing at home against Lockwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Golden City will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Oswego at 5:30 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Oswego focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
