Basketball Recap: South Lake Comes Up Short

South Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Eustis Panthers. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Pina, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Pina's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Rowe, who posted 11 points.

Timothy Key continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Eustis, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Lomar Sparrow, who had eight points and three steals.

South Lake's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Eustis, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

South Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-45 defeat against Lake Minneola on the 10th. As for Eustis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-30 victory against Mount Dora on the 9th.
