The Valley Central Vikings will square off against the Washingtonville Wizards at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
Valley Central is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Cornwall Central just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Dragons, falling 12-2.
Valley Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Watson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Watson's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Washingtonville got the win against Goshen Central on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-4. Considering the Wizards have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brennan Tesseyman and Bryce Tesseyman made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Tesseyman pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Bryce pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Washingtonville is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise. At the plate, Tesseyman went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Bryce got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Andrew Dempsey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He has become a key player for Washingtonville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.
Washingtonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win got Washingtonville back to even at 4-4. As for Valley Central, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.
Valley Central couldn't quite finish off Washingtonville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
