The MacArthur Brahmas will head out on the road to face off against the Southwest Legacy Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. MacArthur's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Southwest Legacy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
MacArthur's tournament run continued when they took on Sotomayor on Saturday. MacArthur fell 6-3 to Sotomayor.
Andrew Moneer put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Moneer was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season.
Moneer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was J.T. Gray, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, MacArthur hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy got the win against SA Roosevelt on Saturday by a conclusive 10-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.
Like MacArthur, Southwest Legacy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaden Pena. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Pena has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Southwest Legacy let Ian Macias and Stevan Rocha run wild. Macias scored three runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2, while Rocha scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Southwest Legacy is 2-1 when Macias posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Ethan Macias was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Southwest Legacy's record now sits at 2-5. As for MacArthur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. MacArthur has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southwest Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
