Softball Recap: Wheeler's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Wheeler had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs on Wednesday as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Victoria Kleeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Isabella Deledda, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgyn Perkins, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win got Wheeler back to even at 6-6. As for Lyman Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Wheeler will venture away from home to face off against Norwich RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyman Memorial, they will welcome Ledyard at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
