After flying high against the Satsuma Gators last Tuesday, the Escambia County Blue Devils came back down to earth. Escambia County took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jackson. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Escambia County of the 67-59 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephen Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Lorenzo Arnold jr. was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Escambia County's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Jackson, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Escambia County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on T.R. Miller at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Satsuma has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
