Basketball Game Preview: Summit Academy Eagles vs. John Jay Wolves

The Summit Academy Eagles will face off against the John Jay Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Summit Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Summit Academy will bounce into Monday's game after beating Elmont Memorial, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Eagles took down the Spartans 50-36 on Saturday. The Eagles pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.

Summit Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khylee Breland, who posted 11 points and five steals. Breland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Toluwanimi Boglo, who put up eight points and 14 rebounds.

Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, John Jay's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 73-0 loss at the hands of South Shore. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Vikings are ranked 17th).

Summit Academy's record now sits at 26-3. As for John Jay, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Summit Academy came up short against John Jay when the teams last played back in February of 2025, falling 39-33. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
