Westlake is 1-9 against Lone Peak since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westlake Thunder will look to defend their home court against the Lone Peak Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Westlake faced Pleasant Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Westlake walked away with a 48-39 win over Pleasant Grove.
It was another big night for Austyn Feller, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Chloe Jensen was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lehi 64-29 on the road. The victory was nothing new for Lone Peak as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Peak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shawnee Nordstrom, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Nordstrom hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Naia Tanuvasa, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Lone Peak, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Jensen and Tanuvasa. Jensen has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.1 points, 1.8 steals, and 3.2 assists. For her part, Tanuvasa has averaged 14.2 points and 2.2 steals.
Westlake was taken down by Lone Peak 72-39 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Westlake, Kailey Woolston (who scored 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
