The biggest upset of the week belonged to Summit, who defeated 99th ranked Bend, 17-14.
The Lava Bears' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Creighton Simmons threw for 97 and 1 touchdown and Quinn Fettig had 73 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Wallace chipped in 135 yards. Hunter McDonald helped Bend's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 17 yards.
Wallace was a passing and rushing force as Bend fell to the Storm. Wallace's favorite target this week was Fettig, who caught 4 passes for 73 yards.
Simmons put up the best numbers through the air as Matt Craven's team lost to Summit.
Bend's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Lava Bears feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Simmons has thrown for 901 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Fettig has 27 catches for 356 yards.
The top two teams in 5A Special District 1 will face off this week when first place Mountain View takes on second place Summit.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Mountain View takes on Joe Padilla's team. The Cougars have allowed 123 points this season, while the Storm have given up 209. Mountain View allowed 27 points last week as it beat Pendleton.
Summit made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,948 from 9,895. The improvement was the result of a 17-14 victory over the Lava Bears last week.
