The Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over Cristo Rey. Innovation Academy pushed the score to 54-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the cut but never quite recovered from.
Derrick Twum was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Twum is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Ogbeide, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Innovation Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Cristo Rey, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.
Innovation Academy will head out on the road to square off against the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cristo Rey, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th.
