The Mitchell Mountaineers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Unicoi County Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Mitchell barely beat Owen the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mountaineers blew past the Warhorses 12-6 on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Riley Silver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mitchell is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 4-7 otherwise. Silver was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Jacoby Dale was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Mitchell is 5-2 when Dale posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Fernando Flores was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.
Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Unicoi County and Elizabethton, and Unicoi County kept the tradition alive. The Blue Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Fighting Cyclones a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday.
Like Mitchell, Unicoi County also got a great game from a two-way player: Kolby Jones. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Jones has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Angel Delgado, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Unicoi County's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Mitchell, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mitchell has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Unicoi County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
