The Chipley Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Altha Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Chipley came out on top against Malone on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. Chipley's pitcher stepped up to hand Malone a 16-0 shutout.
Lauren Waits was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Chipley let Jadyn Pettis and Adalyn Nelson run wild. Pettis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Nelson went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Nelson a new career-high. Julia Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Chipley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Malone only posted an OBP of .231.
Meanwhile, Altha made easy work of Mosley on Thursday and carried off an 11-0 victory.
Hope Tanner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Tanner was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tarrin McCrone, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kaylean Clowes was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs and one stolen base.
Altha is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chipley, their record now sits at 13-5.
Chipley was able to grind out a solid victory over Altha when the teams last played back in February, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
