5A Region IV District 25 recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 25 this week, Smithson Valley beat Canyon 23-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
San Marcos fell to Judson 72-18 last week, the largest margin of any game. ZACH STERLING threw for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 67 yards in the defeat.
Parker Bateman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as New Braunfels topped Wagner. He completed 9 passes for 158 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 10 yards. Bateman's favorite target this week was Austin Orgeron, who caught 6 passes for 106 yards.
Orgeron was the best receiver in the league this week as the Unicorns bested the Thunderbirds. Orgeron tallied 6 receptions for 106 yards. Art Frazier helped New Braunfels' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 32 yards.
San Marcos' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rattlers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. TUCKER SMITH has thrown for 1,125 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while STERLING has 32 catches for 432 yards.
As it stands, the Rockets are in second, while the Cougars are in third.
Judson led the league in scoring this week after putting up 72 points on San Marcos.
