Baseball Recap: Advance Has No Trouble Against Holcomb

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hornets on Saturday. Advance were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Holcomb. This was payback for Advance, who suffered a 12-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caleb Henson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Henson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Colbey Roper and Karsen Bess did most of the damage at the plate: Roper scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Bess went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Cole Curtis was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Advance was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holcomb only posted a batting average of .167.

Advance has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 6 runs thus far As for Holcomb, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Advance will welcome Bell City at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holcomb, they will be playing at home against Campbell at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
