Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lupton Bluedevils vs. The Pinnacle Timberwolves

Two dominant guards in Javon Gonzales and Caleb Arellano are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fort Lupton Bluedevils are taking a road trip to face off against The Pinnacle Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Fort Lupton sitting on six straight victories and The Pinnacle on seven.

Fort Lupton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Lake County 89-49 on Thursday. Given the Bluedevils' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Panthers are ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Lupton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gonzales out in front who went 8 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. The contest was Gonzales' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Guillaume Nkiadiambu, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.

Fort Lupton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, The Pinnacle was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past STEM School Highlands Ranch 76-27. The Timberwolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Fort Lupton has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for The Pinnacle, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Everything came up roses for Fort Lupton against The Pinnacle in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-28 win. In that contest, Fort Lupton amassed a halftime lead of 35-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
