Basketball Recap: Onyx Nnani's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Phelps over William Penn Charter

Phelps was the 86-72 winner over William Penn Charter when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Phelps Lions fell 78-67 to the William Penn Charter Quakers on Friday.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Onyx Nnani, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 27 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Nnani's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Justin Houser was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 16 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Phelps has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for William Penn Charter, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Phelps didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-55 loss against Haverford School on the 14th. William Penn Charter has also already played their next match, a 68-58 win against Friends Select on the 14th.
