Basketball Recap: West Shore Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Shore ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by the Satellite Scorpions 61-60. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 73-45 victory the Scorpions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Leading West Shore to victory were Beau Couture and Christian Rebec. Couture went 10 of 21 en route to 29 points, while Rebec went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals. That's the most points Rebec has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Fiedler, who posted five points along with ten rebounds and five assists.

Several Scorpions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Knight, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Christian Mcphilamy, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

West Shore now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Satellite, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-3.

After both having extra time off, West Shore and John Carroll Catholic will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. As for Satellite, they will head out to take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Satellite is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
