After flying high against the Dilley Wolves last Tuesday, the Natalia Mustangs came back down to earth. Natalia fell 48-39 to Hondo on Friday. Natalia has struggled against Hondo recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Natalia lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Yahdi Lujan, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Lujan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Leyla Saenz was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Natalia has been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season. As for Hondo, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8.
Natalia will be playing in front of their home fans against Lytle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lytle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Natalia likes a good challenge. As for Hondo, they will head out on the road to square off against Cotulla at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
