Basketball Recap: Andrew Batesole's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Boone Grove over Kouts

Boone Grove lost against Kouts back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Boone Grove Wolves took a hard 77-60 fall against the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Mustangs & Fillies are ranked 157th).

Boone Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Andrew Batesole, who went 7 for 15 en route to 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Batesole is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jack Stevens was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Boone Grove has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Kouts, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Boone Grove will face off against Kouts at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Boone Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Kouts likes a good challenge. As for Kouts, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 87-64 victory against Washington Township on the 25th.
