The Casa Roble Rams had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They secured a 70-65 W over Rio Linda. Given Casa Roble's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Rio Linda is ranked 926th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Casa Roble was led to victory by Preston Scott and Moses Oginni. Scott scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Oginni dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Oginni hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Benny Ambriz, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Rio Linda still got an impressive performance from Noah Wolford, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Wolford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Rodney Shead was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, Rio Linda were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casa Roble only racked up seven assists.
Casa Roble pushed their record up to 18-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Rio Linda, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Pioneer the next time they take the court. Casa Roble will host Pioneer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Rio Linda will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
