Baseball Recap: Catskill Wins Going Away Against Saugerties

Catskill had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Saugerties on Saturday. The Cats put the hurt on the Sawyers with a sharp 17-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Cats, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Demetrio Morales was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. Morales was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Catskill let Travis Bulich and Riley Street run wild. Bulich got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Street went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Street a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of James Story, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.

Catskill now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Saugerties, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Coming up, Catskill will be playing in front of their home fans against Loudonville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Saugerties, they are taking a road trip to challenge Roosevelt at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
