Fruita Monument won the last time they faced Durango and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Demons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Gavin Cardoza made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Fruita Monument let Blake Elsberry and Sam Hawkins run wild. Elsberry went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Hawkins got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Hawkins a new career-high. Ryan Brackett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fruita Monument kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fruita Monument pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Durango, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.

Fruita Monument will challenge Grand Junction Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Durango, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palisade at 4:00 p.m. on May 9.
