Basketball Recap: James Kenan Sets Scoring Season-High Against North Duplin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask James Kenan). They enjoyed a cozy 81-67 win over the North Duplin Rebels on Saturday. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

Duquan Stevens and Donavan Armwood certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Stevens went 9 of 18 en route to 18 points and six rebounds, while Armwood went 9 of 18 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Kelly, who posted six points and five rebounds.

James Kenan's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for North Duplin, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the James Kenan Tigers take on the East Duplin Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in James Kenan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Duplin, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
