The Lewisburg Patriots entered their tilt with the Oxford Chargers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lewisburg took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oxford on Friday. Lewisburg has struggled against Oxford recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Lewisburg's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gunner Gilmore, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns. That's the first time this season that Gilmore passed for 300 or more yards. Easton Fesmire was another key contributor, picking up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Oxford was led to victory by Jay Brown and Mitchell Grandjean. Brown rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns, while Grandjean rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Grandjean was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Dane Harmon, who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lewisburg has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 7-3 record. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Southaven, Olive Branch, and Center Hill. As for Oxford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
