The Sharpstown Apollos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northside. Sharpstown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northside apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Sharpstown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kunye Ward, who scored 16 points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Ward scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhase Eaton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Northside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but keith Wilson led the charge by scoring 13 points along with four steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Sharpstown's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Northside, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Sharpstown will look to defend their home court on Friday against Madison at 8:30 p.m. Madison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sharpstown in Texas (Madison is ranked 346th, while Sharpstown is ranked 1350th). As for Northside, they will head out on the road to take on Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Austin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
